People's Builder's Union
Another group with strong ties to both the anti-corp and Revivalist movements, the People’s Builder’s Union is a grassroots co-operative movement with a vaguely socialist agenda, the bastard offspring of the old neo-Coms and Habitat for Humanity. The PBU is the local branch of the Reclamation Movement . Reclamation seeks to end poverty and capitalist exploitation by direct action, rejecting political or charitable efforts. It plans to do this by bringing the labor and resources to the needy directly: occupying abandoned real estate and working with small property owners, usually in neglected areas, building new housing with sustainable infrastructure (solar power, hydroponics, etc.), and bringing in needy tenants. The PBU does not purchase the buildings it converts, but instead works with the existing owners or, in abandoned, squats in them according to the common-law practice of adverse possession: in essence, if they succeed in continuously and publicly making use of the property for long enough, without interference by the owners, they may eventually gain legal title. The PBU is organized into loose, democratic ‘locals’.
